Joseph Tymchenko
(1852–1924)
The house is named after Joseph Tymchenko — a Ukrainian inventor, mechanic, and pioneer of cinematography.
In 1893, he created one of the world’s first devices for filming and projecting moving images — even before the Lumière brothers.
His innovations in precision mechanics made a significant contribution to the development of science and technology, becoming part of Odesa’s legacy as a city of engineers, artists, and progress.

The “Tymchenko’s House” aparthotel is located in a 19th-century building that has preserved the spirit of historical Odesa. The house was carefully restored with great attention to every detail — authentic doors, stucco moldings, vintage floors, and windows — all part of the architectural heritage we aimed to preserve.
We believe that the space you stay in truly matters. That’s why every apartment here is not just a room, but a piece of history you can immerse yourself in.
The hotel is situated in the very heart of Odesa — just minutes away from the sea, the Potemkin Stairs, and Primorsky Boulevard. It’s a location where history meets modern comfort.
